Nokia Training – Presentation Skills

Posted by Joelseah on June 19, 2009

Conducted a Visual Merchandising and Presentation Skills Training at Nokia yesterday. It’s been a while since I went back to conduct training at HQ. Had a bit of a mix up cos I brought outdated slides to the training =P Thankfully, the problem was sorted out, albeit with a bit of hassle.

Conducting the presentation skills training made me realise there’s actually pretty decent content that can be packaged into a program itself, for budding trainers perhaps. So that’s the next program that I’m gonna come up with: Presentation Skills With NLP And Enneagram.. after my Communication Skills program =P

Latest update on the Search Engine Optimisation project for AZ Education. We’re on page one of Yahoo search for the keywords Singapore Home Tutor and Singapore Tuition Teacher. Pretty good progress in a week =) Next up is offline marketing, which will start next week.

By the way, I have a friend desperately looking for those Mac glasses (lime colour). If you spot any Mac with lime coloured glasses available, do a good deed and let me know =P

Styles Of Listening – Excerpt

Posted by Joelseah on June 15, 2009

Listening is one of the most underrated aspect of Effective Communication Skills. If we are honest with ourselves, we’ll probably agree that it requires mammoth effort to be listening 100% of the time. Occasionally, we’ll have thoughts crossing our minds, we could also be thinking of what to say next, or perhaps just distracted by things taking place in the surroundings.

There are generally three styles of listening:
1. Competitive Listening
2. Passive Listening
3. Active Listening

What A Week In Sports

Posted by Joelseah on June 13, 2009

The past week has seen plenty of excitement in Sports (save for the fact that Ferrari failed to get a podium finish in Turkey after so much promise).  Anyway, the biggest news of the week has to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Real Madrid. More about that later..

Roger_Federer_2

First up, Roger Federer has finally done it! Yes, the man whom many has debated to be the greatest player of all time has finally completed the grand slam with a win in the French Open. Of course, many people will argue that he won because Rafael Nadal was knocked out. Well hey, give him some credit.. 19 consecutive Grand Slam Semi Finals is an awesome record, and no one else has come close to that.

In Soccer, Real Madrid has done it again! There’s definitely something in their system that many corporations or even countries can take a leaf from, because they seem to have endless amount of cash for players. After a £59 million record breaking deal for Kaka, they now have an £80 million bid for Cristiano Ronaldo accepted.

Personally, i’m kinda glad to see Ronaldo leave. As much as he guarantees at least 20 goals a season, i think he’s slowly becoming a nuisance at the club. Anyway, latest news today is that Manchester United is attempting to hijack Real’s bid for David Villa by launching a £45 million bid of their own. Don’t think they’ll succeed though.. Villa has stated that he prefers to stay in Spain.

Find Me On Twitter!

Posted by Joelseah on June 6, 2009

Haven’t exactly posted much the past couple of days cos I was busy marketing the new Communication Skills Ebook that I launched and ironing out some stuff in the system. And I’ve signed up for a Twitter account for myself too =P

Yeah.. joining the bandwagon on the next wave of social networking genius. Haha.. Twitter is kinda cool. It’s what they call micro blogging, so you get to post short little messages which cannot exceed 140 characters. It’s like sending a short SMS to all your contacts. The difference of course is that Twitter has a global base.

And it’s a great tool for marketing yourself, your products, or your business. Take for example, when I post something new on my communication blog, I do a Tweet (yes, that’s what they call those Twitter messages) and all those who follow me will learn about it. It works like an RSS feed for my blog. However, I can potentially get more followers at a faster rate using Twitter than RSS. Cool ya?

So there you go. Start Tweeting! =P
