Diversity Wins Britain’s Got Talent!

Posted by Joelseah on May 31, 2009

Diversity is the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2009! Personally thought that it was a brilliant performance from them, though i’ve seen some parts of their performance on other Youtube videos before.

For the record, Susan Boyle finished 2nd, and Saxophone performer Julian Smith finished 3rd. The rest of the finalists (in no particular order) are:

Stavros Flatley (Greek dance/ entertainers)
Two Grand (Grandfather and granddaughter singers)
Flawless (Dance group)
Shaheen Jafargholi (Singer)
Hollie Steel (Singer)
Shaun Smith (Singer)
Aidan Davis (Dancer)

Here’s the video of their performance.

Britain’s Got Talent Semi Finals

Posted by Joelseah on May 27, 2009

The Britain’s Got Talent Semi Finals is now underway. Yesterday was the 3rd Semi Final, and it’ll continue to run daily (except today because of the European Champions League Final) until the 5th Semi Final. After that, the 10 finalists made up of 2 winners from each semi will compete in the final and the prize of $100,000 GBP and the opportunity to perform in front of the royal family.

Till now, there’s been no really major upsets. The more impressive performers from the auditions have all made it through to the finals, except for last night’s winner. Amazingly, Stavros Flatley qualified for the final as the outright winner of the 3rd Semi Final (By the way, public votes will determine the winner who qualifies immediately. One of the second and third place performers will then be picked by the judges to qualify for the final).

Having said that, though i was surprised that Stavros Flatley won their Semi Final, i actually felt that their act was pretty amusing and brings out the best of kinship (Maybe that’s why they won).

Here’s the video of their act: (Apologies for the slightly poor quality. All the good ones on Youtube had embedding disabled. So to watch more videos of Britain’s Got Talent acts, simply visit Youtube)

And for those of you who are interested, the other finalists so far are:

Semi Final 1 – Susan Boyle (Winner), Diversity (Judges’ choice)

Semi Final 2 – Flawless (Winner), Shaun Smith (Judges’ choice)

Semi Final 3 – Stavros Flatley (Winner), Shaheen Jafargholi (Judges’ choice)

Be Considerate In Train Stations

Posted by Joelseah on

I was at the train station yesterday and i saw this very interesting campaign that is on going now. For those of you who are familiar with Phua Chu Kang (for my foreign friends, PCK is a pretty popular figure from a sitcom that used to air on TV some years back), he can now be seen on buses and trains urging us to be considerate when using public transport.

Here’s an example of the campaign, a poster that can be seen on train platform doors:

MRT Consideration campaign

So hopefully, with this message pasted on the platform doors, it’ll remind those anxious and excited train passengers to let people alight first before they rush in. Will it work? Your guess is as good as mine.
